Pierluigi Calignano
The simple act as a sign sequence
Wood and steel
The simple act as a sign sequence by the artist Pierluigi Calignano reflects on habitual gestures such as walking and breathing and weaves in the times dictated by the rhythm generated by their repetition. Fragments of tree structures, discarded branches found in the woods become, through Calignano’s artistic operation, reconstructed and recontextualised structures in which nature takes on a new form.
The broken branches collected in the forest made it possible to create a site-specific work based on a strongly abstract idea of line. Of the 3000 twigs found, about 1500 were used. With them, a connection was made between different trees, trying to fully respect the balance of the forest.
