Migrant animals

WORK TEMPORARILY NOT ON DISPLAY

The sound installation Animali Migranti (Migrant Animals) by artist Cristina Meloni is a work that reflects on the concept of migration and homecoming.

The work draws on collective research in which reflection focuses on the habit of commuting typical of the inhabitants of Sardinia. Starting from a project begun in 2016 entitled Migrazioni (Migrations), Cristina Meloni focuses on the island’s migratory animal species and, in particular, on birds of prey, some of the most extraordinary migratory birds.

It is the calls of the buzzard, the peregrine falcon and the golden eagle that become metaphors for human migration. Their voices, sampled by the artist, create a diurnal sound carpet that is lost in the nature of the forest.
